По сравнению с другими типами электрических машин униполярные генераторы обладают рядом преимуществ. Простота конструкции, большая перегрузочная способность, высокий КПД, отсутствие пульсаций в кривой тока и напряжения, возможность непосредственного подсоединения к турбине ЭУ и т.д. Использование в униполярных генераторах сверхпроводящей обмотки дает возможность значительно увеличить магнитное поле и э.д.с. генератора
