EXPERTS OF THE LITTLE KNOWN SHIZHTI PRACTICAL PSYCHOLOGY ARE READY TO GIVE AN AFFIRMATIVE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION
It is clear that the implementation of the tasks of military reform is impossible without organizing effective, creative work with people. The ability to mobilize and maximize the potential of a person is all the more important in the conditions of the difficult social and financial situation of military personnel.
The reduction of personnel, changes in the functional purpose, an increase in the volume of tasks to be solved cannot but affect the psychological state of the individual soldier's personality, the moral and psychological climate of military collectives. The fate of military transformations depends on thoughtful work with each person in uniform.
Today, it is no coincidence that our eyes are increasingly turning to psychologists. People who can offer scientifically organized mechanisms of adaptation to the difficult conditions of army life and social rehabilitation after it. Life itself forces us to think about raising the moral and psychological support of the reform to a qualitatively different level, which would meet modern requirements.
It seems to me that one of the practical tools for improving the efficiency of professional psychologists could be the introduction, and in the future, the widespread use of such a little-known psychotechnology as neuro-linguistic programming (NLP).
What is it about? This scientific method is popular and the rationale for its practical application can be briefly expressed as follows. Meaningful actions of a person are a consequence of the work of his brain. This means that it is possible to correct specific steps and actions in necessary cases, so to speak, at the preliminary stage, by introducing the necessary additional information into the consciousness of the individual from the outside. Naturally, the methods used in this case are exclusively psychological in nature.
For the first time, I was personally struck by the possibilities of NLP when I saw a person cured of a phobia of heights within 30 minutes. Those who have ever tried to get rid of the fear of confined spaces, transport, etc., will easily understand me. NLP is a field of knowledge in human psychology that allows us to know where to start an activity and how to choose the direction of work.
Neuro-linguistic programming as a psychotechnology historically emerged in the late 70s. Its main tasks were: building a model of the brain and related emotional processes, recognizing patterns of thinking and organizing behavior. The" basic testing ground " for research was the study of brilliant personalities. NLP founders John Grinder, Richard Bandler, Judith Delozier, Leslie Cameron-Bandler, and Robert Dilts attempted to model the mental processes of major historical figures such as Aristotle, Mozart, Einstein, Freud, and others. Later, NLP tools were applied to the peculiarities of neurology (hence the name Neuro-linguistic programming) of people who succeeded not only in science, art, but also in business, politics, and the military. The spread and popularization of NLP in Russia was largely promoted by the works of scientists-psychologists, linguists, philosophers, teachers: Alexey Sitnikov, Andrey Pligin, Irina Cherepanova, etc. Unfortunately, today there are about two hundred people with NLP technology all over Russia. And in the army, there are only a few of them.
However, the question of whether this branch of practical psychology is applicable in life is not worth it. The answer is definitely yes.
The whole point is that NLP is taken from people's lives. The focus here is on effective ways to organize thinking in the performance of a given task. Humans are purposeful creatures. Everything that a person does is dedicated to achieving a certain milestone. Another thing is how he is aware of the intended goal and the ways to move towards it.
R. Dilts, one of the world's leading NLP experts, wrote in one of his many books:: "In order for a person to achieve something, he needs to change. And to do this, you need to meet the following shopping center conditions:: 1. Know what you want, and really want it. 2. Know how to achieve this. 3. Give yourself a chance to do it."
Think about how many times you've stopped halfway to your goal, and you'll probably find that one or other of the above conditions wasn't met. Either you didn't know what you really wanted, or you didn't think through how to do it, or you told yourself that you had done so much - and it didn't work out, in other words, you didn't have enough patience. How many times have you not started a business just because you were afraid of making a mistake? I immediately accept your objections that the error is a discord. And some mistakes will lead to the fact that only you will suffer in some way. And other solutions, if they are wrong? Well, what am I telling you, look around.
It has always been assumed that making a decision is hidden from human understanding, and psychologists have called this process a "black box". Let me explain. A person constantly receives a lot of very different information, and he reacts to it in one way or another, this is his choice - his reaction. But the process of choosing this type of response over the other has always been questionable. NLP has now looked inside and defined the structure of this "black box".
The reader will ask, and the question will be appropriate: "What does that give me?"
A specialist in NLP helps people learn how to adapt to this world and make appropriate decisions depending on the specific situation. Of course, this is not easy at all. This becomes possible only when a person is psychologically, internally ready to accept this information. An NLP specialist helps you prepare it to accept information about yourself. One of my patients once said: "You can take everything from a person by force, even their life, but you can't give them anything by force." We call it " doing good."
NLP has now moved far beyond the organization of the inner world of an individual. Today, it explores the most diverse branches of human activity: creativity, upbringing, education, business, politics, etc. However, until now NLP is not a theoretical, but a purely practical discipline. The main question that NLP seeks to answer is not " What to do?", but " How to do it?!". It is this side of it that attracts military psychologists today.
Imagine a paratrooper warrior who is afraid of heights. The experience of working in NLP with such people shows, as I have already said, that a person can quickly and successfully get rid of a phobia of heights. The fear of confined spaces, working with new models of equipment, moving on transport and other difficulties in the course of combat training of personnel are easily overcome using NLP techniques.
NLP is a field of knowledge in human psychology that allows us to know where to start and choose the direction of work. Developing as a study of the subjective experience of a person and developing appropriate techniques, NLP made it possible to come to the fascinating process of modeling people's behavior. NLP focuses on the processes that are more likely to contribute to behavior change: beliefs, values, and identifying causes in order to find solutions in different settings. Mastery of the NLP technique implies the ability to operate within the boundaries of a multi-parameter "problem space", which in the framework of psychotechnology is known as the S. C. O. R. E. model. The Latin abbreviation S. C. O. R. E. stands for symptoms, causes, result, resources and effect.
According to this model, all mental activity aimed at solving the obtained problem occurs within the area called the problem space. It is a set of states that reflect the situation at a given time, and operators that describe ways to change the situation.
Methods are defined using cognitive processes (neurology), transformational grammar (structural linguistics), and activity programming (psychology). The ultimate goal-changing a person's behavior to achieve a result-is inextricably linked to the system of beliefs and values that a person has in a particular situation.
NLP specialists use a special technique to adapt to a particular situation. The method is based on identifying the" keys " of the emotional state (stressful situation) and resources to overcome them. Having correctly identified resources, the NLP specialist makes adjustments to the current state, which leads to a change in the way of thinking, a revision of beliefs, a hierarchy of values, and ultimately a change in behavior. According to one of the leading experts - President of the NLP Association of Russia Konstantin Kovalenko, neuro-linguistic programming "as a technology allows making the process of adaptation and changes in conditions within the framework of a proven model and the result faster, more efficient and more modern for a person." How would the use of NLP help in the adaptation of young soldiers in military collectives? Or when officers are dismissed from active service. Is it just that?
Unfortunately, so far only highly qualified specialists are consumers of an intelligent NLP product. As the analysis of NLP practice shows, there is a tendency to increase the number and scale of orders for NLP by the largest corporations, industry giants and leaders of the world economy.
I would like to believe that the day is not far off when NLP specialists will be able to benefit the Armed Forces as well. Not on a one-time basis, but on a solid permanent basis. It seems that if today such specialists were present at all levels of the Armed Forces ' management, how much wider would be the possibilities of preventing many of the current offenses. The reform continues, and such an issue as the use of new psychotechnologies in working with people can help solve many problems. This includes advertising military service, eliminating conflict situations in teams, adapting people to new conditions, rehabilitation after psychological injuries, and preventing accidents. Of course, NLP is not a panacea for all ills, but the use of the method in difficult conditions of reform would determine the fate of many military personnel, would save more than one human life.
