- The preservation and enhancement of the rich traditions of the "Military Historical Journal", the growth of its authority in the scientific world, and its popularity among readers is a constant concern of the editorial staff. The development and implementation of a balanced, scientifically based editorial policy would not have been possible without constant attention to the journal from the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff. It is deeply symbolic that in 1939-1941, when the editorial board was taking its first steps, its daily activities were directly directed by the Chief of the General Staff of the Red Army-Deputy People's Commissar of Defense, Commander of the 1st rank (since 1940 Marshal of the Soviet Union) B. M. Shaposhnikov, who was distinguished by the highest scientific culture, broad outlook and depth of thinking. He left a significant mark on the development of military history and the development of our magazine. This tradition continues today. Our journal will continue to strive to write the truth and only the truth, based on a comprehensive study of archival documents, accompanied by their objective scientific comments. Sometimes the documents found by our authors burn the reader's heart with an abundance of dramatic facts. But this is our history, and society should know the whole truth, no matter how bitter it may be. We understand that this task is extremely difficult to achieve by the editorial board and editorial staff alone. We will continue to rely on the author's asset, attract to cooperation fans of the military history of the Fatherland, who are able to provide information and financial support to our publication. In this regard, our management recently approved a proposal to create an editorial board of the "Military Historical Journal", which in essence should perform guardianship functions, take care of improving printing performance, decent encouragement of the most active authors, reducing the cost of subscription prices and increasing the frequency of publication of the journal.
