Quaestio de influentia activitatis solis in meteorologica, specialiter in severitate frigus, est una ex maximis intriguingibus et disputatis in climatology et heliophysica hodierna. In levi, frequentime auditur assertiones de connectione «tempestibus solariis» et frigore anormali. Tamen, imago scientifica est multo complexior: directum et univocum influentia fulguritionum solis vel numeri Wolfi in temperaturam diem cras — mythus. De his est de debilibus, sed significativis correlatiis in cyclis longe-terminis et per complexas catenae processuum atmospherae. Influentia per mutationem generalis radiationis ultra-violetae (UV): In periodis activitatis solis altae, radiatio UV potest crescere 6-8%. Hoc duceat ad additionalem calorem et mutationem circulationis in stratosphera (stratum ad altitudinem 10-50 km). Venti stratospherae, vice versa, possunt «proiectari» ad inferiorem, influentiam fluctuum troposfericorum (ut fluctus arcticus — AO) et distributionem pressurae atmospherae. Veritates et exempla interessantes

Frigus recordans in activitate solis alta: Unus ex maximis frigus hiemalis in Europa orientali saeculi XX factus est in Ianuario 1940 (sub Moscuae infra -40°C), cum sole in ascensione ad maximum 17-um cycli. Hic est exemplum clarum absentiae connectionis inversae.
