Didactica "Magnarum Librorum" in Educatione Classica in USA: Philosophia, Historia, Practica

Programma "Magnarum Librorum" (Magnarum Librorum) est una ex influentissimis et controversissimis innovatis pedagogicis saeculi XX in USA. Non est simpliciter catalogus litteraturae, sed philosophia educationis integralis, qua directum confrontamentum cum fundamentalis textibus civilis occidentalis formare hominem intellectualmente independentem et ethicamente responsabilem petitur.

Originum Philosophicae et Historicae

Idea ad traditionem Europaeam studia humanitatis referitur, sed suum formatum moderneum in operibus philosophorum Americanorum Ioannis Erskini, Mortimeri Adler et Roberti M. Hutchins accepit. In annis 1920, Erskine in Universitate Columbiae seminarium de "magnarum librorum" introductum, ubi scholari originalia texta a Homere usque Freud, criticam secundariam omissa, legere et discutere. Tamen laboratorium verum et symbolum motus est Universitas Chicagensis sub rectore Hutchins (1929-1951). Hutchins, frustratus parvitate pragmatismi et specializatione praeceps in educatione Americano, cum Adler incolam educationis generalis, exclusa legendo et disputatione dialogicae fontium primariarum, elaboravit.

Notitia mirabilis: Hutchins et Adler, non fuisse philologi classici (unus iuris doctor, alter philosophus), in "magnarum librorum" "magna ideae" (Magnae Ideae) viderunt. Adler postea "Sintopicon" monumentalem creavit — indicem duotomum ad 102 ideis clavis (a "Deo" et "Causa" usque "Servitute" et "Bello"), per omnes tomos series Magnarum Librorum Occidentis (54 tomi, editi in 1952) pertractabilibus.

Objectiva et Methodi: Dialogus Socraticus ut Nucleus

Objectiva programmatis non est transmissio summae notarum, sed developmentus cogitationis criticae, potentiae ad disputationem rationalem et intelligentiam perpetuae problemata hominum existentiae. Methodus est seminarium forma dialogi Socratici, ubi professor non est locutor, sed moderator ("tutor"), quaestiones patentes proponens. Scholari legere attentius discunt, argumenta detectura, propriam positionem in dialogo cum Platone, Augustine, Machiavelli vel Newtono constructura.

Exemplum characteristicum: in seminario simul definienda sunt iustitia Platonis in "State", interpretationis legis naturalis Thomae Aquinatis et utilitarianismus Mill. Tarea scholaris non est docere eas opinions, sed logicam omnium intelligere, contraditiones detectura et eas systemata ad dilemmata ethicorum temporis recentis accommodare.

Canon et Critica: "Quis Occidentem? Quae Libri?"

Canon "Magnarum Librorum" historicamente circum textus, quos considerantur fundamentales pro traditione intellectuali occidentali, formatur: ab epics et tragici Graecis per philosophos, theologos et scientistas aevi Mediaevalis et Renascentismi usque ad philosophos Novi Temporis. Principium clavem est immersionem chronologica, qua progressionem idearum in historia videre permittere.

Quamquam canon est objectum asperae criticae, specialiter in tempore "bellorum culturalium" 1980-1990-annorum. Programmam in elitismum, eurocentrismum, patriarchalitatem et exclusionem vocum feminarum, representatorum culturetum non-Europaeorum et minoritatum socialium accusabant. Nota vox criticorum — "Quis Occidentem? Quae Libri?" — causam est ut particeps programatis catalogos reexamine. In variis variationibus modernis (exempli gratia, in Universitate Columbiae) cursus "Magnarum Librorum" supplementatur vel correlatur cum studio textuum globalium et multiculturalium, dialogum traditionum formans.

Statvs Modernus et Significatio

Hodie programma in variis formis existit:

In principalibus universitatibus: ut nucleus educationis generalis (exempli gratia, famosis cursus "Ciclus Columbiae", includens "Humanitates" et "Civilizationem Modernam").

In collegiis artium liberae: ut fundamentum curriculae (exempli gratia, clarissimus Collegium Sancti Iohannis in Annapolisi et Santa Fe, ubi tota programma baccalaureatus, inclusa mathematica et scientiae naturalis, in legendo et disputatione fontium originalium constructa est).

In educatione civili: ut modus formationis basis culturalis in societate disgregata.

In Spite of criticism, influentia programma est magnus. Demonstravit quod contactus directus cum textibus complexis typum intellectuales periculosam et profunditatem formare. In aetate cogitationis clippis et tumultu informatico, ideal lectionis ponderatae et dialogi cum maximis mentibus praeteritis perpetuat suam actualitatem adversum superficialitatem et dogmatismum. Ita, "Magnarum Librorum" in USA non est reliquia archaica, sed traditiona didactica viva, perpetuum reformans, qua valorem scientiae humanitarum pro developmente hominis liberi et civis responsabilis defendit.
